Ground Off All

Overview

Ground Off All is a command for ungrounding all components in the active edit document of an Inventor assembly. This tool helps restore all components to their normal state after modifications or constraint adjustments, ensuring that no parts remain unintentionally grounded.

Grounding components temporarily in an assembly is good practice if you intend to make multiple modifications but do not want any of the components to shift. For example, in a duct system where all components are connected end to end, changing the length of one component can affect the positions of others. Grounding all components until adjustments are complete and no constraint errors are found ensures that all branches and adjacent fittings remain in place.

How It Works

  1. Launch the Ground Off All command from the Configure panel.
  2. All components in the active edit document are ungrounded.
  3. Any color overrides set by Ground On are removed.

Usage Instructions

  1. Open your assembly in Inventor.
  2. Click the Ground Off All button in the Configure panel.
  3. Verify that all components are ungrounded and their colors are restored.

Troubleshooting

  1. If some components remain grounded, ensure they are not locked or constrained by other relationships.
  2. Check for conflicts with other appearance overrides.
  3. Verify that the components were previously grounded using Ground On or Ground On All.

Examples

  1. Unground all parts after editing: Use Ground Off All to restore movement and appearance to all components after making changes.
  2. Remove color overrides from all components: Automatically clear any color set by Ground On when ungrounding all parts.
  3. Prepare for constraint testing: Unground all components to test new constraints or relationships in the assembly.
